Benny Goodman – SingSingSing

Benney Goodman – Sing Sing Sing

Benny Goodman – Sing, Sing, Sing: The Truth Revolution

Visual and Auditory Restoration of the 1937 Masterpiece

The world-renowned performance of Sing, Sing, Sing has long been preserved in a distorted state. The original footage was a “sync-performance” (miming to a pre-recorded track). During the editing process, the audio was accelerated (Hayamawashi), and the footage was adjusted to match this unnatural runtime, resulting in the frantic, almost comical performance style that has been accepted as “truth” for decades.

Pan Records has successfully restored both the audio and visual elements to their authentic, real-time speed. For the first time, the true weight and orchestral brilliance of the Benny Goodman Orchestra can be experienced as it was actually performed.

The RCA VICTOR Revelation: A Century of Misinterpretation

Through a rigorous analysis of the original 1937 RCA VICTOR pressings (RCA VICTOR 25796 – 36205 A & B), a critical discovery was made. Because this track spans both sides of the record, a specific “long-play” recording RPM was employed by the engineers of the era.

When played at the conventional 78 RPM—as most listeners and historians have done for eighty years—the performance becomes unnaturally fast, losing its expressive depth, and the pitch shifts across multiple keys. Tragicially, the modern transcriptions and arrangements used by orchestras today are based on these distorted, accelerated recordings.

Preserving the Correct Answer

The verified results and the fully corrected “True Revolution” audio are held exclusively within the private archives of Pan Records. This restoration is more than a technical fix; it is a fundamental correction of music history, revealing the genuine instrumental tones and the masterful expression that have been hidden behind a century of technical error.
