【The 1980s: Musical Roots and Awakening of Intuition】

Born in 1968. Kikuchi’s musical journey accelerated the moment he first picked up a guitar at age thirteen.

  • 1982 (Age 13): Took up the guitar and performed on stage only three months later. This early immersion in live performance built the foundation for his “physical intuition”—the ability to analyze recordings through the lens of a practitioner’s muscle memory.
  • 1983–1984: Served as lead guitarist for the punk band “Prisoner,” and opened for “THE STAR CLUB,” a pioneer of the Japanese punk scene. During high school, he gained immense experience by playing in as many as ten bands simultaneously.
  • The Definitive Discovery at 16: While listening to pre-war blues masters like Robert Johnson, Kikuchi identified a stark discrepancy between their recorded sound and his own tactile sense of performance.   • 2001: Confronting the “Real” in Memphis and Helena: Performed at the Memphis Blues Festival. In Helena, he appeared on “King Biscuit Time,” the world’s oldest blues radio program. His live encounter with the legendary host, Sonny Payne, provided a vital experience of the authentic pre-war atmosphere.
  • 2008: Official Invitation to Grafton and Historical Verification: Formally invited to the “Paramount Walk of Fame” in Grafton, Wisconsin, as a scholar of Blind Blake. In addition to performing at the ceremony, he conducted a re-verification of “Michael’s Photography”—the purported site of Blake’s only known photograph—from physical and architectural perspectives, exposing contradictions in established theories.
